The creation of Rural Health Group represents more than just a name change. It is a decisive move to ensure that our services are more integrated, more accessible, and more impactful.

As the Federal Member for Flynn, I see firsthand the unique challenges faced by our rural and regional communities, particularly when it comes to accessing quality healthcare. That’s why the work of Rural Health Group is so important. Rural Health Group plays a critical role in ensuring that people living in our rural and regional communities are not left behind, providing access to essential services including general practice, mental health support and chronic disease management.

Their commitment to strengthening local healthcare and supporting rural practices means better outcomes for patients and stronger, more resilient communities across the region.Organisations like this understand that healthcare in the regions isn’t one‑size‑fits‑all, it requires local knowledge, strong partnerships, and a genuine commitment to community wellbeing.

I commend Rural Health Group for their ongoing dedication to improving access to care and advocating for better health outcomes in regional Queensland. Their work is making a real difference, and I look forward to continuing to support initiatives that deliver practical, on‑the‑ground results for rural Australians.

Access to quality healthcare is critical to the sustainability and wellbeing of rural communities. Rural Health Group has played an invaluable role in ensuring residents across regional Queensland continue to have access to local GP services and essential healthcare programs. Their commitment to attracting and supporting healthcare professionals, maintaining continuity of care, and working alongside communities delivers real benefits where they are needed most. We are grateful for their ongoing contribution to the health of Hughenden and the wider region.

For more than 25 years, Rural Health Group has been dedicated to creating healthy rural communities by ensuring access to sustainable primary healthcare across regional Queensland. Managing 13 medical practices throughout North Queensland, Central Queensland and the Wide Bay region, Rural Health Group plays a vital role in keeping the doors of rural general practices open despite the ongoing challenges of workforce attraction, retention and continuity of care.

Their commitment extends far beyond a visit to the GP. Through chronic disease management, immunisation, preventive health initiatives, mental health services and outreach programs, Rural Health Group helps deliver essential healthcare services to communities that might otherwise go without. By working closely with local communities, they provide essential tools, resources and support needed to build healthier futures for all rural Queenslanders.

Rural Health Group’s mission is simple yet powerful – creating healthy rural communities. Every day, they remain focused on ensuring that every person, regardless of where they live, has access to the quality healthcare services they deserve.

You may be aware that across North West Queensland access to quality healthcare can make a profound difference to the future of our communities. For the past 25 years, the non-for-profit Rural Health Group has delivered essential primary healthcare services across the communities of Herberton, Mount Garnet, Ravenshoe and Hughenden in my electorate of Traeger. Through its outstanding work, the organisation has ensured that people living in rural and remote areas can access the care they need closer to home.

Rural Health Group manages local medical practices and delivers chronic disease management, immunisation programs, preventative health initiatives, mental health services and outreach programs that complement the care provided by local general practitioners. Access to sustainable primary healthcare in rural communities continues to present significant challenges, particularly in attracting and retaining a skilled workforce and ensuring continuity of care. Rural Health Group has consistently demonstrated its commitment to addressing these challenges through practical, community-focused solutions that strengthen local health services and improve access to care.

The organisation’s dedication to improving health outcomes helps keep our rural communities strong, resilient and thriving. I commend Rural Health Group for the invaluable contribution it continues to make across regional Queensland and am proud to support its ongoing work.

Rural Health Group has been dedicated to improving healthcare to rural communities for more than 25 years. I have been privileged to support people living with diabetes throughout the rural towns of the North Burnett through the continued engagement from Rural Health Group. My approach has always been about meeting people where they are, both in their environment and in their diabetes journey. By visiting clients in their communities, I gain a genuine understanding of the challenges they face, working alongside them to develop practical, sustainable strategies that fit their lifestyle. This could only be made possible by the supportive and sustainable system of healthcare and outreach programs made available through Rural Health Group.

Over the years, I have built strong, trusted relationships with my clients, their families, and the local health professionals who refer to me. I believe that trust, respect, and continuity of care are the foundations of effective diabetes management. It has been a privilege to serve the North Burnett community and Rural Health Group for over two decades, and I remain committed to providing accessible, evidence-based diabetes education that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those I support.
